A little Sunday afternoon drawing. I’m finding as time goes on, my sketchbook is becoming more of a happy creative place. I tend to do a lot of work digitally in procreate. Earlier this year I started sketching a lot of my ideas in a sketchbook just in pencil. I think adding colour and creating a finished piece seemed a little daunting. I’ve thankfully stuck to this as I find my ideas seem a little more creative than when I start in an iPad.
I started this little colour sketchbook a few months ago, my first design was okay, second was so bad it will never see the light of day. I’m please to say this is the first illustration where I’m happy with it, I did mess anything up. It’s taken longer than expected to relax & just draw, but I guess when you’ve worked on a screen for years going back to paper feels a little foreign.

So enjoy my little Sunday drawing, and hopefully I’ll have more to share in the coming weeks ❤️

I had a bit of fun with this one. I don't usually redraw the same motif over and over again ( I did 5 for this one) however there was something calming tracing over the first motif and trying to get a bit of variation. I also opted for them not line up to give that imperfect hand made feel.

I enjoyed creating this rustic chalky stripe however as you can see I also couldn't help turning it into a rustic Plaid as well.

Here's a snippet of what has been happening behind the scenes this April. I've really been loving pen & ink this month which created the most beautiful line work. I've been wanting to be more strategic in what I create starting with adding more designs in this style as it's one of my favorites.

I'm hoping my locked portfolio will be re-opened with a beautiful collection of new work.

this week it was all about dogs, florals and a few unexpected themes such as desert landscapes.
