Licensing + Buy-Outs
Non-Exclusive License
This gives you a non-exclusive license to use one of my designs in the manufacturing & sale of your finished product. You will be permitted to use the design for a set amount of time, in one category. I will retain the copyright & ownership of the design at all times. The design may also be licensed to other businesses at the same time, for any purpose, under a Non-Exclusive license
I will also continue to use the design on any print on demand sites such as Spoonflower, Redbubble & more. This means the design will be available for purchase on fabric that could be used for products, and other goods that are manufactured by these companies.

Exclusive License
An exclusive license gives you exclusive use of the design in one or more categories, in a specific geographical location for a set amount of time. The full details of this license will be negotiated & outlined before the design is sold.
I will retain the copyright & ownership of the design & my style at all times. I will also retain usage rights while the design is licensed, for any purpose that is not included in the license. As I retain copyright of the design & usage rights I will be able to License this design to businesses & use it myself for categories and geographical locations outside of the licensing agreement.
What does this mean? Say you license the design in Australia, for Baby Apparel. You will be the only business granted use of this design for the Category (Baby apparel) In this location (Australia). I can also license the design in a different category, and/or location. For example if another business would like to license the same design for another category, say Homewares in Australia, they would be able to do so. Likewise a business in Canada could license the design for baby Apparel in Canada provided they will not be selling the design in Australia. If you hold a World wide license in a category, no other business can license the design in your category. You can also license a design forever in your chosen category.

Please note: While I do my best to ensure every print is unique I will continue to create design that may be of a smilare nature to your chosen design. I may use similar elements, motifs and colour palettes across a range of different designs and reserve the right to create designs of a similar nature in my own artistic style including exclusive and custom designs. I will do my best so ensure any new designs do not conflict with the design licensed.
Buy-Out
This is where you buy the design out right for your business. The design will not be resold to another client & I will also not use the design in any of my online stores. When you Buy-out a design you are purchasing the copyright of a design. Due to this I prefer to create new work for clients who are looking to own the copyright. Please visit my Surface Pattern Design services page to learn more about having a design created for you. It is worth noting that in a Buy-Out sale I do have a clause to show the design in my portfolio & social media platform. This is for my own marketing purposes & to show clients my skillset.
Please note: I may use similar elements, motifs and colour palettes across a range of different designs and reserve the right to create designs of a similar nature in my own artistic style including exclusive and custom designs. You are not buying my style or handwriting when you purchase a design as a buyout. You will however be purchasing the pattern or illustration & the motifs as they are displayed in the design.
Women’s Print Portfolio – Buyouts are available on most prints due to industry standards. These prints are fashion focused.
Baby, Children’s & general licensing portfolio – These prints have a high possibility of being licensed in a category already.

FAQ
What is art licensing?
Art Licensing allows you to “rent” or “use” one of my designs to create your own products. I hold the copyright of the design & you are granted the use of one of my designs in the production & sale of your product for a set amount of time. You can choose between a “non-exclusive” or “exclusive” license.
How do I apply for access?
Art Licensing allows you to “rent” or “use” one of my designs to create your own products. I hold the copyright of the design & you are granted the use of one of my designs in the production & sale of your product for a set amount of time. You can choose between a “non-exclusive” or “exclusive” license.
Why is your portfolio locked?
I work with a range of clients, some don’t mind purchasing a published design. Others prefer an unpublished design. This is to protect the client’s product from copycats before the product launches. Meaning the print has been unseen until launch. It also helps me protect my work from copycats who may want to imitate my style & work. For peace of mind for everyone I prefer to keep my licensing portfolio private.
Who owns the copyright of the design, artwork or illustration?
As the creator of the work, and as I am governed by Australian law I retain full copyright of the work at all times. Including any derivative works created. Copyright of a design is only transferred to a clients in a Buy-Out agreement. Please see “Do you offer Buy-Outs”.
Can I use fabric purchased from spoonflower or another retailer to create products?
If you have purchased fabric with my prints on them from spoonflower or another fabric retailer that sells my designs, you do not need to apply for a license to produce products from the fabric.
Can I request changes to the design?
Colour: I can assist with colour changes if possible. If the design is Vector I will easily be able to customise the colours for you. If the design is not vector a colour change may not be possible, however I will let you know what an be done.
Scale: I can change the scale of a design if it will not affect the quality of the work. If the artwork is not Vector it can be scaled down without loosing quality, however cannot be scaled up in size.
Motifs & Layout: Unless the design is sold under a buyout arrangement, no motifs or layouts will be adjusted. If you do purchase a design outright and the changes do not affect the integrity of the work I can edit these for you.
Please Note: Any customisation of artwork will incur an hourly charge of $100AUD per hour.
Do you offer Buy-Outs?
Baby, Children’s & General Licensing Portfolio: While I am open to buyouts, this option is not available on licensed work. I also don’t offer buy-outs on prints that are for sale in my spoonflower shop. If you would prefer to own full rights of a design, the best option is to have a print designed for your business. This way you can buy full ownership of a design & have a print that is one of a kind for your business.
Women’s Print Portfolio: these prints are available for buyout or license due to fashion industry standards.
